Celebrity Musicians Join Say “I Do” Campaign

Today, musicians Sara Bareilles, Lance Bass, Cyndi Lauper, LeAnn Rimes, award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, and actor Verne Troyer signed on to Freedom to Marry's Say, "I Do" campaign. Since launching the Say, "I Do"campaign on March 14, over 60,000 people from across the country have joined celebrities, leaders in tech and business, musicians, and athletes in urging President Obama to join the majority of Americans who support the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.

The call for presidential leadership on this issue is particularly timely, given the introduction on March 16th of the Respect for Marriage Act, which would repeal the so-called "Defense of Marriage Act." And with a Washington Post-ABC News poll finding 53% support for marriage among Americans - more than double the 26% support when DOMA was stampeded through Congress in 1996 - there is clearly accelerating momentum toward ending marriage discrimination.
