Freedom to Marry makes final $100K infusion to block MN marriage amendment

Today, Freedom to Marry announced a final $100,000 match donation for Minnesotans United for All Families, the coalition working to defeat a proposed constitutional amendment that would permanently limit the freedom to marry in the state. The cash infusion will help to support the campaign during this crucial five-day Get Out The Vote endeavor.

Our founder and president, Evan Wolfson, commented on the investment. He said:

We are in the closing days of making the case to Minnesotans, and every conversation, every dollar, every vote turned out counts. That's why Freedom to Marry is digging deep to make one last investment in the top-notch Minnesotans United campaign. We all want to be able to say we did everything and gave everything we could to encourage Minnesotans to stand up for fairness and vote no.

The donation brings Freedom to Marry's direct financial investment in the VOTE NO campaign in Minnesota to $1.75 million. We are also a founding member of Minnesotans United and have provided critical guidance on messaging and political strategy, new media expertise and coordination, and strategic leadership. In the 2011-2012 election cycle, Freedom to Marry has invested $4.6 million into the four states facing marriage ballot measures, and we have helped to raise an additional $2.4 million to support public education work in the states. That brings our total investment in the four ballot campaigns during this election cycle to $7 million.
