August 02, 2011
Today the NOH8 campaign launched a PSA video as part of Freedom to Marry’s Say I Do campaign starring Larry King, Mya, David Hasselhoff, Sara Bareilles, Trina, Tommy Joe Ratliff, Bret Lockett, and Verne Troyer. Freedom to Marry’s Say I Do campaign urges President Barack Obama to join the majority of Americans who support marriage for same-sex couples.
Freedom to Marry’s National Campaign Director, Marc Solomon, celebrated the video’s release in a statement on Tuesday. "This NO H8 PSA brings together talented musicians, athletes and journalists to get the message across – it’s time for the President to end his journey, join the majority of Americans, and speak out in support of the freedom to marry for all loving, committed couples," said Solomon. “Now is the time for President Obama to say it loud and clear: 'I Do.'"
The Say I Do campaign started with an Open Letter to the President signed by a diverse set of celebrity signers including Caroline Kennedy, Anne Hathaway, Jane Lynch, Ellen Degeneres, David Geffen, and Tony Kushner, and open is to all Americans to sign. More than 115,000 Americans have signed the letter since March. The letter can be found here.
